Two weeks ago, we sent out notes for our annual collection of food for Saint Vincent de Paul. This food will help out families in Tramore that are in need. We asked for non-perishable food. Ever since, we have gone around to all the classes every morning, gathering up food and keeping it in one room. We were overwhelmed by the generosity of the families in our school. We went across the road and gathered up food from there, and we were amazed at the amount of food the younger children gathered. We brought it all over to our side of the school where we sorted it into different piles of food such as biscuits, pasta tinned food and cereal. Every day, the pile of food got bigger and bigger. On the last day, we made a human chain, bringing the food from inside the school to outside, across the road and all the way to a cottage. It was a bit chaotic!

A few students were chosen to unpack the food and they then re packed it into crates to help Ann and Dick from St Vincent de Paul. We collected loads of food and we are very thankful to all the people that participated.  We hope our donations help those who are struggling this Christmas.

Fourth Class have been learning all about the Normans in Ireland. We enjoyed learning about them so much that we decided to make our very own Norman castles! The students spent a lot of time collecting recyclable materials from their homes. Take a look at our creations!
